How to access the lessons for a specific course

    • Sign in to your account and select a course or level.
    • Click on Browse All Courses to see all available courses and unlock a course to get started.
    • Each time you finish a level, click Browse All Courses again to move on to the next level or explore reinforcement materials.

You’ll see all available courses you can join.

Click to unlock the course that you wish to enroll.

You can repeat the process as you move on to the next level or enroll in self-paced reinforcement courses between levels. If you decide to take a break from your group class, you can keep your Toani membership to study and review on your own, or you can suspend your subscription altogether. Either way, you’re always welcome to rejoin a group later whenever you’re ready.

How to slow down the speed of audio files and videos

One of our students’ favorite features is the ability to slow down the audio exercises and video lessons. Just click on the “1x” option and select “0.75x” to carefully listen to the words and phrases, and practice your Spanish pronunciation by breaking them down in slow motion.

Also, if it’s a video or audio file that has a transcript, you can click on the words to replay specific parts. This is super handy when you’re listening to our podcast or following along with longer stories.

How to view feedback and retake a quiz

Whenever you take a quiz and get a question wrong—or even if you fail—what happens next? You can always retake the quiz to improve your score, but we strongly recommend first comparing the answer you selected with the correct one. Once you finish a quiz, you’ll see the results page showing all the questions you answered. Just click on any wrong answers to read feedback and learn why your chosen response was incorrect.

You can scroll down on the results page and click on Start Quiz to retake it.

Also, You can always view your progress and grades as you complete lessons and quizzes. Go to Menu, then My grades and you will see a report chart per each course that you are currently enrolled in.

How to download verb and vocabulary cheat sheets

Here’s one more way to practice on the go, outside of class: download one of our cheat sheets for free to help memorize verb conjugations or brush up on rules like the different uses of “por” and “para.” Below is a list of what’s available on our website:

    • Basic Vocabulary Cheat Sheet Level 1
    • Present and Past Tense Cheat Sheet Level 2 & 3
    • Advanced Tenses Cheat Sheet Level 4 & 5
    • Por and Para Cheat Sheet

You can save them to your phone and study whenever you have free time—maybe while relaxing at the beach or before bed. If you prefer a physical copy, we also offer colored, hardcover versions at the school available for purchase.

How to practice with our pronunciation widget

You can use our pronunciation widget to practice and check how you’re doing. Just click on the mic, say the sentence provided, and then review the feedback on your pronunciation. You’ll find these exercises integrated throughout the courses to practice specific vocabulary or sentence structures, depending on the lesson. Here’s how it works:

Then your results look like this. You can click on the words to hear the right pronunciation.

How to join our Weekly Conversation Class

We understand your main goal is to learn and speak Spanish. That’s why a few years ago we started our weekly conversation class—a special part of our school dedicated to helping students put into practice what they’ve learned. Every week, students from different groups meet on Zoom for guided conversations, supported by one of our instructors. The only requirement is that you’re in Level 3 or have a basic understanding of preterite conjugations.

Our program is designed to help you communicate confidently in Spanish. Our goal is to get you there as quickly as possible. When the time comes, we’ll encourage you to join the conversation class and guide you every step of the way so you’re well-prepared. If you’re already in Level 3 or comfortable using past-tense verbs, feel free to jump right in. We’ll provide any necessary vocabulary beforehand so you know the session’s theme or topic.

Our conversation class is offered on Zoom every Friday throughout the year, except during holidays such as Christmas break. It’s included in your Toani Membership, so you can attend as many sessions as you’d like each month. The only conversation class that has a separate fee of 200 pesos is the in-person version, when available.

How to get extra practice with our “Refuerza tu Español” newsletter

Every Sunday, we’ll send you our “Refuerza tu Español” newsletter, which features a set of suggested exercises to review sentence structure and practice your pronunciation. Each activity is labeled from Level 1 to Level 5, so you can pick the tasks that match your current level—or explore higher levels if you’re feeling adventurous! That said, staying focused on your primary course content is usually the best way to progress.

We also have a Spanish podcast that we encourage everyone to listen to, no matter what level you’re at. You’ll be able to see the words as you listen and replay specific parts to catch every detail. Even if you only understand 20% or 30% of it now, that number will keep going up the more you practice. With “Refuerza tu Español,” our goal is to help you stay active in your Spanish learning every week. These exercises are optional and meant to complement your usual group class homework.

Here’s a quick look at the different segments you’ll find in the newsletter:

    1. Reto Español (Challenge Your Spanish) Features a short quiz to test your skills and see where you stand.
    2. Práctica de Pronunciación Focused on improving your pronunciation through audio exercises or our self-evaluating widget.
    3. Sentence Structure and Pronouns Practice the word order in different tenses and learn how to use pronouns correctly.
    4. Toani Podcast Listen to stories about life and culture in Los Cabos, with the option to read along and replay parts as needed.
    5. Clase de Conversación Join other students from different group classes in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas to practice speaking together. (Must be at Level 3 or higher to join.)

If at any point you decide to take a break from your group class, you’re welcome to keep your Toani Membership active to study on your own. And whenever you’re ready, you can jump back into a group again.
