Level 3 Preterite

Duration: 16 hours of class (2 months).

Class frequency: 2 classes per week, 1 hour per class. 

Location: This class is available in person at school in San José del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas. You can also join this group class remotely via Zoom.

Price: $2,800 MXN pesos a month per student.

Prerequisite: Level 2 or schedule a free 30-minute interview to find the right level/class for you.

Course content

Past tense conjugations in Spanish are very much influenced by pronunciation, both yours and other speakers’ as you listen to them. You have to develop the ability to associate what you hear in a conversation with words and conjugations you learn on paper. This course takes you at a higher level of the language by learning how to use and recognize past tense in spoken Spanish. In this course you will learn:

  • …how to use our pronunciation technique to blend the sounds of the verb conjugations in past tense.
  • …how to talk about events held in the past.
  • …how to narrate personal experiences and situations occurred in the past.
  • …how to confirm details of a future appointment.
  • …how to conjugate regular and irregular verbs in past tense (preterite) in Spanish.

Grammar and vocabulary
You will learn time phrases used to describe past situations like last week, last month, yesterday, etc. You will also learn words related to common activities, scheduling and confirming appointments and things around the city. In level 3 you will cover: 

  • …preterite conjugation: regular and irregular verbs.
  • …time phrases used in past tense. 
  • necesitar and querer used in past tense.
  • …uses of quedar.

Learning methods and class materials
Pronunciation goes both ways-speaking and listening. Repetition is the key to learn and solidify the use of words and verbs in past tense. As with previous levels, the teaching method used is based on the repetition of words and the purpose is to create the habit of speaking and listening to Spanish consistently. This time you will practice pronunciation and repetition of more advanced sentence structure using past tense to describe situations and personal experiences occurred in the past. Once you sign up and throughout the duration of the course you will use our online platform with audio exercises, worksheets and downloadable cheat sheets. 1 year access to corresponding learning materials for Level 3 is $600MXN pesos (one time fee). 

Who is this class for?
Students who have now completed Level 2. The average number of students per class is between 5 and 8. We try to keep the groups small to preserve the quality of your learning experience.

Terms and conditions
Course tuition must be paid in advance to reserve a spot in the group. You can pay on the first day of class of the course, assuming there are available spots to join. Payment is not reimbursable. You may cancel 30 days before the course begins and request the equivalent of 90% of your course tuition, excluding the $600MXN access fee to our learning platform. You can make changes at least 15 days before the course begins and switch to a future course date, provided that there are available seats to join a course that’s the same level as the one you were assigned and that is held within a period of six months of your original course date. Changes cannot be made 15 days before the first day of class and/or once the course has started. No-shows are not reimbursable.
